On the serendipitous evening of July 24, 2020, Alex, a Navy Lieutenant, found himself in Ottawa, embarking on a new chapter after a three-year stint in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories (also known as the arctic and by words of lesser value if you ask Alex). Little did he know that this last minute move would intertwine with the quiet splendor of Cindy's humble life with her cat Nacho.

Cindy was deeply engrossed in five months of intensive French training but the stars aligned in such a way that July 24th marked the day after she received the news of passing a very important test for her work. Her weekend was intended for celebrating her accomplishment and beginning plans for a new future.

Fate would have something else in mind.

Alex invited Cindy for a drink - and on a whim - after knowing very little about him, she decided to seize the opportunity. Little did they know that this seemingly casual encounter would blossom into something extraordinary, changing the course of their lives forever. From that fateful night forward, they have spent almost every day together (12 days apart, but who is counting).

In a time when distance seemed to be the norm, and when the world felt fragmented, they turned what many deemed the worst year into the best one of their lives.

Since meeting, Alex and Cindy have ditched the ordinary, exploring the extraordinary, jet-setting across the globe hand in hand. They successfully united their beloved Whiskey and Nacho (their dog and cat, not their snack cabinets) and have since made memories that are sure to mark this as one of the best chapters of their lives.

On August 24, 2020, just one month after meeting, Alex insisted they officially become a couple.

On December 25, 2022, against the backdrop of a snowstorm in Alex's hometown of Niagara, Alex proposed to Cindy....

...to which she responded with a resounding "yes."
